Position Overview:

We are seeking a skilled Custom Framing Specialist to join our team. This role requires expertise in high-quality framing techniques, an eye for detail, and a passion for art preservation. The ideal candidate will work closely with clients and the gallery team to design and craft custom frames that enhance and protect fine artworks, prints, photographs, and memorabilia.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and construct custom frames for a variety of artworks, including paintings, prints, and textiles.
  • Consult with clients to recommend framing options that complement the artwork and align with their preferences.
  • Cut and assemble mats, glass, and frame moldings with precision.
  • Ensure proper handling, mounting, and preservation techniques for valuable and delicate artworks.
  • Maintain a clean and organized framing workspace.
  • Stay updated on framing trends, materials, and conservation techniques.
  • Work collaboratively with gallery staff to ensure framing aligns with exhibition and client needs.
  • Assist with inventory management of framing supplies and equipment maintenance.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in custom framing, preferably in a gallery or museum setting.
  • Strong knowledge of archival framing techniques and conservation materials.
  • Proficiency with framing tools and equipment, including mat cutters and mounting materials.
  • Excellent attention to detail and craftsmanship.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Background in fine arts or related field is an asset.
