Lawrence A.C. Panton (1894-1954)

Born in Cheshire, England, Laurence Panton came to Canada at age 17 and settled in Toronto. After studies and service in the First World War he worked at Rous and Mann and then as an art teacher, eventually becoming principle at the Ontario College of Art (1951-54). He is known for his stylized landscapes and waterscapes which often feature rhythmic patterns and a hint at mysticism.1
